DJ under a Moosehead...

Josie: At an undisclosed location (somewhere in Colorado), Angie will post the pic for you later, but I have to tell you that we had a blast on St. Patty's day. Local pub but not so local DJ. Shaking our rumps and doing the bump da bump with the locals. You do not have to be in your 20's to have a partying time!

Wednesday Cannot Contain Us....

Josie: You heard me right. We cannot be contained by one single day!

Venue: Two Fools Tavern - Irish Breakfast Sunday

Happened to be out with Coco this Sunday afternoon for Irish breakfast. Cute boys abound for Miss Coco's selection. I'll let her tell you more about that...

Love this space. Love this vibe. Irish music right before St. Patty's day. Amazing service. Great pub food and drinks. Especially great for shaking off a bit of the "hair of the dog". (wink)

On a style note, today was particularly fun because of all the proud Irish. Love them in all the green. I can't pull off the color but I love seeing all the variations on the theme. Young and old alike. Even when they aren't doing the lovely greens, people here are doing the perfect Sunday comfy but not sloppy...even though I am sure that some have just barely slept or never made it home to their own place to change clothes. (You know who you are> Girl in the sequin top from last night.)

Here everyone gets to be Irish for just a bit. Indulge and enjoy!

yup, made it to wednesday

Angie: Last night the ladies and I celebrated making it all the way to Wednesday- yup, upright Wednesday. Could there be any better excuse for wine, friends, and extended conversations on shoes and boys?

The Venue: Zinc basement bar.
The Deal: 20% off any bottle of wine on the menu, and served with a free cheese plate
The results: The wine, as always was fantastic, and not even just at the top of the price range. I like when you can get an affordable bottle for under $35 at a restaurant. And not cheap bottles we could buy ourselves for $6 at TJ's. Isn't it painful when the cheapest bottle is $25 and it's some Australian variety you have at home with a $6 price tag? Well not at Zinc- it's a relief that I don't have to order the known favorites because I know we can trust their selection, every bottle we've gotten has been great.

Onto the cheese platter... It's a great 'tasting' platter. As in the wine selections noted above, there are mostly cheeses I've never heard of or rarely tasted. ALMOST all are really good, and it's actually kind of nice to try a new cheese and decide it's not for me. So many times I've been at the cheese counter and wanted to try something new (I know, at Whole Paycheck you can) but have been dissuaded by the price or by some other cheese needs. Only to fall back on the good ole standby: Brie, goat, feta, wine anything. Maybe I just can't stand the commitment or can't bear the thought of loving it and having a whole block to devour before my husband finds it. Either way, I pick cheese conservatively so getting a good introduction to new flavors is a welcome change.

We actually supplemented our wine and cheese with an appetizer, buffalo chicken quesadillas. Now, where could you go wrong with that? It's spicy, tangy, breaded chicken resting in cheese with an easy-to-handle vehicle (tortilla) to devour. Pretty good stuff, though I'll admit I was hoping for something a little more sophisticated, of which they do have plenty of options. The bruschetta is a super-good favorite.

Almost everything is excellent at Zinc, with one exception: the wait staff. Sorry, but it's true. It's hit and miss there, and as I understand my party actually moved from one side of the bar to the other to try and get service last night. Luckily, by the time I arrived they had a wonderful waitress who was just perfect all night.

Overall we love it there and would go back every Wednesday of it weren't for a quest for variety. We'll try more places and let you know the verdict.

OH- on a final note- you get another FREE cheese plate with each bottle of wine! SAWEEEET!

Josie here: Angie had it all right but she neglected to mention that the fashion and shoe scene was abysmal last night. I need inspiration....Hmm, may need to find new spot for this? Or new night?
